Djokic Honored as BIG EAST Athlete of the Week

Sophomore went 4-1 over the weekend at the Indiana Winter Invitational
CHICAGO – There's nothing like a little conference recognition to get your comeback season off to a flying start.
In the first weekly awards of the dual-match season, DePaul's Hristina Djokic was honored as the BIG EAST Female Athlete of the Week for women's tennis.
Djokic returned to the court after missing all but the first nine matches of the 2018-19 season and the entire 2019 fall tournament season with an injury and amassed a combined 4-1 record at the Indiana Winter Invitational last weekend.
The sophomore from Belgrade, Serbia swept her singles matches in decisive fashion opening with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Marshall's Madison Riley and following up with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Indiana's Lexi Kubas.
She paired with teammate Marija Jovicic to pick up two doubles victories against tandems from Wright State and Northern Illinois.
Djokic and her teammates will take on Western Michigan on Friday in their inaugural dual match of 2020. First serve is at 7 p.m. at Lakeshore Sport & Fitness.
