
Blue Demons Come Up Short at No. 10 Seton Hall

DePaul continues road trip on Saturday at Marquette
NEWARK, N.J. – DePaul went toe-to-toe at No. 10/10 Seton Hall, but came up short in a 64-57 loss Wednesday night at Prudential Center. Charlie Moore scored 14 points and Jalen Coleman-Lands added 10 points for the Blue Demons.
DePaul (13-8, 1-7 BIG EAST) started slow and trailed, 14-6, with 11:38 left in the first half. The defense clamped down and allowed the offense to get into a rhythm as the Blue Demons chipped away.
With just under five minutes left in the first half, Oscar Lopez Jr. fed Paul Reed with a nifty post entry and Reed converted for an uncontested dunk. Reed's dunk pulled the Blue Demons to within two at 26-24 and forced Seton Hall (16-4, 8-0 BIG EAST) into a time out with 4:49 left until the break.
The Blue Demons went up by nine early in the second half on a three-pointer by Moore less than four minutes into the second half. Seton Hall didn't back down and slowly got back in the game.
With 5:28 left on the clock, a Blue Demons turnover led by a fastbreak lay-up for Myles Powell to give Seton Hall its first lead of the second half at 53-51. Powell led all scorers with 24 points.
Powell converted two free throws and knocked down a jumper to make the score 58-51 and the Pirates maintained the lead for the remainder of the game.
Moore added four assists and four rebound while Romeo Weems totaled eight points and six rebounds. Darious Hall scored nine points off the bench to go along with six rebounds.
The Blue Demons continue the road trip on Saturday as DePaul travels to Marquette. Start time in Milwaukee for the 126th meeting between DePaul and Marquette is set for 1 p.m. on FOX Sports Networks (WCIU in Chicago) and WSCR (670 AM).
