Sights and Sounds Signal Basketball Season Around the Corner

Men's and women's programs participated in virtual media days last week and learned schedule updates
CHICAGO – As the calendar turns to November, the sights and sounds of basketball season picked up as the men's and women's programs participated in a virtual BIG EAST Media Day and learned plans for the 2020-21 conference schedule last week.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the BIG EAST opted to hold its annual media day virtually this year after previously convening at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The men's media day was held on Wednesday, Oct. 28 followed by the women's event on Thursday, Oct. 29.
Head coach Dave Leitao along with Charlie Moore and Romeo Weems answered questions from the media on Wednesday morning. Moore was named a first team preseason All-BIG EAST honoree and Weems represented the program after earning All-Freshman Team honors after last season.
The conference office also unveiled a portion of the league schedule with the announcement of December conference games. The Blue Demons will play two road games at Seton Hall and Villanova before hosting Xavier and Connecticut.
Doug Bruno and the women's team were led by preseason All-BIG EAST honorees Lexi Held and Sonya Morris. Bruno participated in a virtual media session along with coaches from Seton Hall and St. John's as the Blue Demons were picked to finish second in the coaches preseason poll.
On Friday, the women's program learned its December conference schedule that opens at Villanova before hosting Xavier. The final two conference games of the four-game set include a game against Georgetown and a trip to Creighton.
More information will be available soon on non-conference schedules, television and radio information and fan attendance plans. Plans are being finalized and will be announced as soon as information is confirmed.
