The Blue Demons set three new program records and set multiple personal bests
CHICAGO — The DePaul track & field team returns from Michigan setting new school records and multiple personal bests across all squads. All three program-record-setters already hold the highest spots in the history books but bested their marks at the Big Meet hosted by Grand Valley State.
One week after setting the best mark in program history, senior Kyle Mastrangeli continued the success with a dominating 6.75 second performance in the 60-meter dash. The record time was good for gold in the crowded field of competitors from across the nation. Fellow sprinter Ashton Colaire's performance in the 60-meter hurdles updated his time in the record book. The senior from Pickering, Ont. clocked in at an impressive 7.97 seconds.
In the men's distance events, freshman Ben Lee updated his DePaul record in the 800-meter run. After setting the program record in his first meet as a Blue Demon, the newcomer from Knutsford, England marked a time of 1:50.00 in the event to earn a spot atop the podium. Henry Larkin earned a second-place performance in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.76 seconds.
For the women, Tori Carroll saw great success in the long jump competition. Her mark of 5.76 meters earned her a new personal best that was good for gold in the event. The freshman from Detroit also marked a 6.60-second finish in the 60-meter dash to set a personal best in that event, as well.
Senior thrower Rebecca Chouinard earned second place in the weight throw with a 17.52-meter mark that was good for an updated career best. Fellow thrower Mackenna Orie set a new shot put personal record with a distance 14.74 meters.
