Gates Earns Top 5 Performance at Alex Wilson Invite

The program record holder continues preparation for the conference meet
CHICAGO — DePaul track & field's Jade Gates returns from the Alex Wilson Invitational after posting her second-best throw of the season. The two-time BIG EAST Women's Field Athlete of the Week marked a distance of 19.20 meters in the weight throw competition to place fifth overall among the 16 competitors.
The strong competition included performers from Notre Dame, Indiana, Florida State and Miami (Ohio) among others. The St. Louis native currently holds the DePaul record in the weight throw with a mark of 20.19 meters set at the Meyo Invitational on Feb. 8.
The Blue Demons continue their preparation for the BIG EAST Indoor Track & Field Championship that are slated to begin on Sunday, March 1 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
