After earlier win, Blue Demons fall to Troy 4-1

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – It was a good beginning but a tough ending for DePaul in its second match of the day at the H-E-B Tournament of Champions.

Carrying over momentum from a stirring comeback win earlier on Friday, the Blue Demons saw Boris Spanjaard and Christopher Casati along with Fran and Vito Tonejc win their doubles matches in securing a 1-0 lead.

But a talented Troy team responded by winning four singles matches to clinch a 4-1 win at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.

Spanjaard/Casati defeated Troy's Michalek/Tasker 6-4 while the Tonejc brothers prevailed over Llinares/Romero 6-2.

The setback left DePaul 1-1 for the day with its final Tournament of Champions match coming up on Saturday against the host school Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
