174 Student-Athletes Named to BIG EAST All-Academic Team

At least 170 Blue Demons honored for fourth straight year
CHICAGO – A total of 174 student-athletes were recognized today by the BIG EAST Conference as the league announced the All-Academic Team. At least 170 student-athletes earned the academic recognition from the conference office for the fourth straight year.
Nearly 3,000 student-athletes from across the BIG EAST were selected to the 2019-20 BIG EAST All-Academic Team. Nominations for the All-Academic Team are submitted by each of the BIG EAST's 10 member schools and affiliate institutions. To be eligible for the honor, a nominee must have competed in a BIG EAST-sponsored sport, attained a minimum grade-point average of 3.00 for the preceding academic year, and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters of academic work, with a total of 18 semester or 27 quarter credits, not including remedial courses.
There are 2,768 honorees for the 2019-20 academic year. Affiliate student-athletes made up 214 of the honorees. A year ago, a DePaul record-setting total of 177 student-athletes were honored. That topped the previous school record of 172 accomplished after the 2017-18 season. The 2016-17 Blue Demons had reset the standard at 170.
