Men's Tennis Travels to Drake for Bulldog Cup

CHICAGO – Four men's tennis players will represent DePaul beginning Friday at the Bulldog Cup in Des Moines, Iowa hosted by Drake.

Freshmen Matteo Iaquinto, Jona Gitschel, Sven Moser and Phasu Sirinit will compete at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center in the three-day event.

The Bulldog Cup will using the Davis Cup format with players paired up against tandems from Drake, Northern Illinois, Omaha and Wichita State in match play.

Each tandem will play two singles matches and one doubles match with each match worth one point. Two out of three points advances that two-man team onto the next round.

Lars Peder Minsaas and Leon Huck won a flight title at the Redbird Invitational last weekend that utilized the Davis Cup format.

Moser and Sirinit lost in the opening round at Illinois State but bounced back to win the consolation title.

Iaquinto is off to a fast start in his collegiate career, tied with Tripp Tuff for the team's best singles record at 7-2. Sirinit has played well in recent weeks and is now 4-2.
