Borowiak Leads the Way at Live in Lou Cross Country Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Amongst a highly competitive field at the 20th annual Live in Lou Classic at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park, DePaul junior Olivia Borowiak led the Blue Demon pack with team-best 31st place finish in the women's 5K race. Shane Knanishu was the top finisher in the men's 8K at 43rd.
Borowiak cracked the top-35 with a time of 17:18.5 while teammate Nina Amicon crossed the finish at 17:49.0 to place 68th. Alexa Havon laced up for the first time since Sept. 10 and clocked a 18:22.3 5K to finish 130th. The Blue Demon women finished 29th as a team in a field of 44 squads.
On the men's side, Knanishu's 24:17.7 led the Blue Demons to a 19th place team finish out of 36 teams competing. Sophomore Damian Rodriguez crossed the finish 30 seconds after Knanishu to place 88th at 24:47.0. Dominic Bruce nearly missed the top-100 with a time of 24:55.8 to finish 103rd.
Up Next: The Blue Demons will take a week off to recoup before competing in their final regular season race of the fall season at the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria, Ill on. Oct. 15. The BIG EAST Cross Country Championships are set for Friday, Oct. 29 in Carmel, Ind.
