DePaul looks for fifth straight win to open 2021-22 season
CHICAGO – DePaul looks for its second 5-0 start in three seasons as the Blue Demons host Northern Kentucky on Friday afternoon. The game is the second of three for DePaul in the Blue Demon Classic following a win over Western Illinois last Saturday and the third game set for Sunday against Eastern Michigan.
Friday's game can be seen on FS2 starting at 4 p.m. with Telly Hughes (play-by-play) and Brian Butch (analyst) handling the broadcast duties. The game can also be seen online at foxsports.com/live. He is the first player to earn the league's weekly honor in consecutive weeks since Myles Powell in January 2020.
The Chicago native averaged 23.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists in the first week of the season that also included 15 assists in the two games with just one turnover. He opened the season with 25 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists (one turnover) in the opener against Coppin State while adding three steals. Against Central Michigan, Freeman-Liberty totaled 22 points, seven rebounds and seven assists (zero turnovers) with two steals.
Freeman-Liberty continued his impressive start to the season by averaging 26.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game while playing all 80 minutes in week two.
He opened the week on with 19 points, nine rebounds, three steals and two assists against Rutgers before pouring in a career-high 33 points against Western Illinois with 11 rebounds, four assists and a steal. He tallied 27 of his 33 points in the second half.
In addition to his first two BIG EAST weekly honor, Freeman-Liberty was named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week three times during the 2019-20 season while playing at Valparaiso.
