
DePaul Drops Match to Ball State

Blue Demons finish match play event with 1-1-1 record
DADE CITY, Fla. – The Blue Demons dropped a close match to Ball State on Tuesday morning to conclude the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play. The Cardinals edged the Blue Demons by a score of 3.5-2.5 to give DePaul a 1-1-1 record in the three-match event.
Grant Boyson posted his third win in as many matches to lead the Blue Demons. He won his match, 2&1, and was joined by Conor Glennon who also recorded a 2&1 victory. Perry Chong played to a tie in his match while Nik Gatmaytan (3&2), Noah Kolar (4&3) and Artemiy Yalovenko (5&4) all dropped their individual matches.
The Blue Demons finished in fourth place with 1.5 points. Connecticut won the team title with three points ahead of Drake and Ball State with two points each. Teams earned one point for a team win and a half point for a tie. The team with the most points at the end of the three matches was the champion.
DePaul returns to Chicago and is off until the Pinehurst Intercollegiate in mid-March. The Blue Demons play Pinehurst No. 8 from March 12-14. A year ago, Glennon led the Blue Demons and finished in a tie for 14th place at the event. The 2021 edition features an 11-team field for three rounds over three days in Pinehurst, N.C.
