Golf Returns to Play This Weekend at Pinehurst Intercollegiate

Blue Demons join 11 other teams at Pinehurst No. 8 starting Friday
CHICAGO – After starting the season with back-to-back match play events, the DePaul golf team is set for three rounds over three days in the 2021 Pinehurst Intercollegiate. The Blue Demons are one of 12 teams competing starting Friday in Pinehurst, N.C.
The Pinehurst Intercollegiate will be played at Pinehurst No. 8 that features a par 71 layout over 6,937 yards. Joining the Blue Demons at the event are Abilene Christian, Belmont, Butler, Dayton, Elon, George Washington, Longwood, Marshall, Old Dominion, Wofford and Xavier. Elon is the defending champion with a 20-shot win a year ago over second-place Davidson.
Conor Glennon led the Blue Demons at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate in 2020 in what ended up as the final competition of the season. He finished in a tie for 14th place with former teammate Stephen Sul as the Blue Demons were 11th on the team leaderboard.
The tournament features one round each day this weekend starting Friday. DePaul's lineup includes Glennon, Noah Kolar, Artemiy Yalovenko, Grant Boyson and Nik Gatmaytan. Looking Ahead: Following the Pinehurst Intercollegiate, DePaul travels to Alabama for the Alabama A&M Golf Classic on March 22-23 before returning to Ruffled Feathers GC to host the John Dallio Match Play on Friday, April 2. The Dayton Flyer Intercollegiate (April 12-13) and the Hawkeye Invitational (April 17-18) lead up to the annual BIG EAST Championship on April 30-May 2.
Dallio Memorial Returns: An event in the memory of former DePaul golfer John Dallio returns to the schedule as DePaul hosts the John Dallio Match Play on April 2. The four-team event will be played at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont as the program hosted a fall tournament in Dallio's name through the 2016-17 season. Bradley, Chicago State and Loyola joins DePaul for the event with pairings to be determined based on latest GolfStat rankings.
2019-20 Recap: The Blue Demons finished the shortened season with six tournaments and two match play events. Five different players led the team in the six tournaments while the Blue Demons dropped a match against Loyola-Chicago to conclude the fall schedule before opening the spring slate with a third-place finish at the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play.
