DePaul Set for BIG EAST Cross Country Championships

The conference championships take place Friday morning in Cary, N.C.
CHICAGO – DePaul cross country heads to Cary, N.C. for the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships on Friday, March 5 at WakeMed Soccer Park Field. The Blue Demons will compete in the conference championship after completing the Eastern Illinois Spring Open back on February 6. The women's race will begin at 10:00 a.m. CT and the men will toe the starting line at 10:50 a.m. CT.
On the women's side for DePaul, sophomore Olivia Borowiak won the Eastern Illinois Spring Open with a time of 18:16 in the 5K race earlier this spring. Senior Margaret Hastings posted a 10th-place finish. The Blue Demons enter the 2020-21 edition of the conference championships after finishing in eighth place at the 2019 BIG EAST Championships.
The Blue Demon men will also look to improve upon an eighth-place finish in the 2019 conference championships. Senior Charlie McIntyre finished third to lead DePaul in the 8K at the season-opening meet at Eastern Illinois.
The Villanova men and Butler women will be defending their 2019 BIG EAST cross country conference titles. Within the BIG EAST, the Georgetown women own the highest current ranking in the latest USTFCCCA poll, coming in at 20th in the nation. Meanwhile, the Butler men are ranked 24th in the country, the highest ranking among squads in the conference on the men's side.
