
Yalovenko Matches Career Best Round to Wrap Up Hawkeye Invite

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Artemiy Yalovenko recorded a career best round for the third time in his last five rounds as the Blue Demons concluded play at the Hawkeye Invitational on Sunday. Yalovenko posted a 68 at Finkbine Golf Course to match his career best round set earlier this week in the second and third rounds at the Dayton Flyer Intercollegiate.
With the four-under round of 68 on Sunday, Yalovenko finished the event with a score of 222 (+6) and was among five players in a tie for 33rd place.
Noah Kolar finished a shot behind Yalovenko after he carded a 73 (+1) in the third round. His 54-hole total of 223 (+7) placed him in a group in 38th place.
Conor Glennon, Nik Gatmaytan and Perry Chong rounded out the afternoon for the Blue Demons. Glennon's final round of 78 (+6) put him in a tie for 57th place with a total score of 230 (+14). Gatmaytan was 64th and Chong finished in 65th place. Gatmaytan turned in a 73 (+1) in the third round to finish at 234 (+18) and Chong posted a tournament score of 235 (+19) following Sunday's score of 79 (+7).
Host Iowa claimed the team title and individual medalist honors. The Hawkeyes finished five shots ahead of second-place Kansas while Alex Schaake finished the event with a score of 204 (-12). The Blue Demons turned in their best round of the weekend with a score of 292 (+4), but finished 12th overall.
The BIG EAST Championship is on deck for DePaul as the Blue Demons meet the league membership in Bowling Green, Fla. The three-round, three-day event is set for April 26-28 at Streamsong Resort. DePaul enters the conference championship having finished in the top three in five of the last six tournaments.
