Volleyball Announces 2021 Fall Schedule

DePaul set to play 11 matches at McGrath-Phillips Arena
CHICAGO – DePaul volleyball unveiled its 2021 fall slate on Friday. Head Coach Marie Zidek and her program will play a total of 30 regular season matches including 11 of those hosted at McGrath-Phillips Arena.

'This group returns almost everyone from last year's roster and is hungry to prove themselves with a full schedule, including a full BIG EAST conference schedule this year" said Zidek. "We are excited to get back into the gym and work hard to represent DePaul proudly as we chase a BIG EAST Championship and post season NCAA tournament run."

Prior to beginning competition, DePaul is set to travel to Illinois State for a preseason exhibition match on Saturday, August 21 with first serve set for 2 p.m. from Redbird Arena.

The Blue Demons will officially open the season on Friday, August 27th against Central Michigan for the first of three games at the Bradley Invitational. On Saturday, DePaul will take on Southeast Missouri State followed by the host Braves to round out opening weekend.
The second weekend of competition will bring the Blue Demons to Dayton, Ohio for the Raider Invitational. DePaul will meet Marshall on Friday, Sept. 3 before facing Ball State and Wright State on Saturday, Sept. 4.

DePaul will open its home schedule Sept. 10-11 as Akron, Penn and Oakland will visit Lincoln Park for the DePaul Invitational. On Friday, the Blue Demons will play a single match against the Zips before Saturday's doubleheader against the Quakers and Grizzlies.

Zidek and Co. will close out the non-conference portion of the schedule on Sept.17-18 with the Chicago Cup hosted at Northwestern's Welsh-Ryan Arena. Friday will see a 4 p.m. match with Loyola Chicago before Saturday's slate picks up with Northwestern at Noon and UIC at 5:30 p.m.

DePaul will open BIG EAST play on the road with a trip to the East Coast to take on Georgetown and Villanova, Sept. 24-25.

The Blue Demons return home for the first weekend in October to welcome Connecticut and Marquette to McGrath-Phillips Arena, Oct. 2-3 before embarking on a road trip to face Creighton and Providence, Oct. 8 and Oct. 10. Â

The remainder of the October slate features four home matchups including Seton Hall and St. John's on Oct. 15 and 16 before a midweek matchup at Marquette on Oct. 20. The Blue Demons will make the return trip to UConn on Sunday, Oct. 24 before closing out the month with home matches against Providence and Creighton, Oct. 29-30.

The first two weekends of November will see DePaul on the road at St. John's and Seton Hall Nov. 5-6 before visiting Butler on Nov. 12 and Xavier on Nov. 14. The Blue Demons will return home for the regular season finale to face Villanova and Georgetown, Nov. 19-20. Â

The BIG EAST Championship presented by Jeep will take place on November 26-27 in Milwaukee, Wis. at the Al McGuire Center. The top four teams after the regular season qualify for the tournament with the champion receiving an automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Tournament.Â
