Blue Demons Pick Up NABC Team and Honors Court Recognition

Men's basketball earns NABC Team Academic Award for fourth straight year
CHICAGO – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) recently announced its annual academic awards with the Blue Demons earning the Team Academic Award while Brendan Favre, Javon Freeman-Liberty, Jason Malonga, Courvoisier McCauley and Pantelis Xidias were named to the Honors Court.
The NABC Honors Court recognizes outstanding efforts in the classroom each season. The NABC honors the top academic student-athletes for all NCAA divisions and the NAIA. To qualify for the NABC Honors Court, athletes must be a junior or senior academically with a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2020-21 academic year with at least one year at current institution. This season marks Malonga's third appearance on the honor roll and the second for Xidias.
The Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2020-21 season. The Blue Demons claimed the recognition for the fourth straight year and the fifth time in the last six years. DePaul was one of three BIG EAST programs to earn the team honor joining Creighton and Villanova.
