
Pressly Paces DePaul in 3-1 Victory Over Penn

Blue Demons pick up first win at home
CHICAGO – DePaul volleyball bounced back in a big way on Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 win over Penn in game two of the DePaul Invitational at McGrath-Phillips Arena.
Set scores of the match were 18-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-20.
Sophomore outside hitter Jill Pressly paced the Blue Demons attack with a career-high 24 kills at a .380 clip while Hanna Karl dropped in 13 kills at a .380 efficiency to go along with 12 digs.
Middle blocker Aly Kindelberger was once again a potent at the net with five block assists and five kills on nine swings.
Ashley Cudiamat and Molly Murrihy handled the setting duties with 25 and 23 assists, respectively.
Rachel Krasowski picked up a match-high 18 digs.
Autum Leak totaled 20 kills to lead the Quakers.
Set One: The Blue Demons and Quakers were fairly even through the early going of the first set until a mini 3-0 run by the Quakers put them in front 12-9. A Pressly kill cut the deficit to one (14-15) before Penn went up by six at 20-14. The Blue Demons responded with a 4-0 run of their own to come within two at 18-20, before the Quakers closed out the set with five consecutive points.
Set Two: Both squads battled to 13 apiece before a trio of Pressly kills paired with a Kindelberger and Wallace block gave the Blue Demons a 16-13 advantage. Murrihy continued her serving streak with a Kindelberger kill and a service ace to put the Blue Demons up 18-13. DePaul went on to close out the set on a Kindelberger kill to even up the match at one apiece.
Set Three: Penn jumped out to an early 8-3 lead before the Blue Demons battled back to tie the match behind another Murrihy service run. Both sides remained even until 19 apiece. A pair of Quakers errors and a Pressly kill gave DePaul a 22-19 advantage and the Blue Demons closed out the set 25-22 to take a 2-1 lead.
Set Four: The fourth set saw the Blue Demons trail 14-11 before climbing back. With Ashley Cudiamat. Behind the service line, DePaul went on a 7-0 run to take a 21-17 lead. The seven point span included a service ace, a trio of attack errors by the Quakers and kills from Pressly, Price and Karl. DePaul went on to claim the match, 3-1, after winning the fourth set 25-20.

Up Next: DePaul will close out the 2021 DePaul Invitational at McGrath-Phillips Arena with a matchup against Oakland at 7 p.m. The final match of the day will serve as Alumni Night for the Blue Demons.
