CHICAGO – DePaul women's tennis will be sending four of its best this weekend to the ITA Midwest Regional hosted by Illinois.
Marija Jovicic, Yuliya Kizelbasheva, Lenka Antonijevic and Maddie Yergler will represent the Blue Demons in a field that will bring together some of the top players from this part of the country.
Jovicic will be primed to follow up her sizzling start to the fall tournament season when the graduate student from Bosnia-Herzegovina swept through the Redbird Invite last weekend at Illinois State winning all three singles matches in straight sets.
Not only did she cruise to the Flight 3 championship, but none of her opponents came any closer than a 6-2 result in any set.
Yergler went 2-1 at Downstate Normal and finished third in her flight. Antonijevic and Kizelbasheva won the doubles title in the most competitive flight and bring a 3-0 mark into the regional. Jovicic and Yergler went 2-1 as a team, coming up short in the title match.
The 18-team ITA Midwest Regional field features top players from Illinois, Notre Dame, Eastern Michigan, Wisconsin, Toledo, Northwestern, Illinois State, Northern Illinois, Colorado State, Michigan State, Ohio State, Illinois-Chicago, Valparaiso, Marquette, Bowling Green, Eastern Illinois, Michigan and the Blue Demons.
