Blue Demons and Bluejays Ready for Saturday Meeting in Omaha

DePaul and Creighton set for 4:30 p.m. game on CBS Sports Network
CHICAGO – DePaul travels to Creighton for a Saturday afternoon BIG EAST matchup at CHI Health Center Omaha. The game opens a stretch in the schedule that features three road trips in four games over the next two weeks as the Blue Demons travel to Villanova on Tuesday before hosting Connecticut next Saturday. The four-game run ends at Xavier on Feb. 5.
Saturday's game can be seen on CBS Sports Network starting at 4:30 p.m. with Jason Horowitz (play-by-play) and Chris Walker (analyst) handling the broadcast duties. Creighton enters the game at 11-5 overall and 3-2 in the BIG EAST while DePaul is 10-7 overall and 1-6 in the BIG EAST.
Familiar Surroundings: DePaul head coach Tony Stubblefield is no stranger to Omaha as he played and graduated from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. After two seasons at Clinton (Iowa) Community College, Stubblefield completed his collegiate career at UNO where he was team captain as a senior before starting his coaching career as a student assistant with the program.
As schedules were in flux throughout the 2020-21 season around COVID-19 protocols and cancelations, Stubblefield and the Oregon Ducks opened the season in Omaha with neutral site games against Missouri and Seton Hall. Stubblefield was on Dana Altman's staff at Oregon and the Ducks dropped an 83-75 game to Missouri on Dec. 2 before defeating Seton Hall, 83-70, on Dec. 4 at CHI Health Center Omaha.
In 2015, Stubblefield and Oregon visited the facility for the NCAA Tournament that saw a 79-73 win over Oklahoma State in the first round before a 72-65 loss against eventual runner-up Wisconsin in the second round.

The Opponent – Creighton Bluejays: Creighton stands at 11-5 overall and 3-2 in the BIG EAST... the Bluejays posted an 87-64 win over St. John's on Wednesday evening to snap a two-game skid... Alex O'Connell leads four players averaging in double figures with 13.5 points per game...
