DEPAUL NOTES
- Aneesah the All-American: Sophomore forward Aneesah Morrow made a splash in her inaugural campaign with the Blue Demons, earning an abundance of accolades including National Freshman of the Year and Second-Team All-American honors by the Associated Press and USBWA. The Chicago native led the nation in rebounding and posted 23 double-doubles while averaging 21.9 points per game and 13.8 rebounds per game. A finalist for the John Wooden Award, Naismith Trophy and Katrina McClain Award, Morrow broke 13 BIG EAST records and rewrote the DePaul single-season record book, too. This fall, the Simeon High School graduate was unanimously selected a preseason All-BIG EAST performer while landing on the Katrina McClain Watch List and most recently voted to the six-member AP Preseason All-America Team.
- Back for the Blue Demons: Alongside Morrow, six additional letterwinners return from a season ago including key fixtures Darrione Rogers and Kierra Collier. Kendall Holmes, a junior guard, is expected to assume a larger role in 2022-23 while Jorie Allen, a starter in the post in 2020-21, is back from injury. Keke Rimmer and Nazlah Morrow return for their senior campaigns.
- Fresh Faces: DePaul's roster features seven newcomers including a pair of transfers and five freshmen. The Blue Demons signed Chicago native Jade Edwards (American) and former Schlarman standout Anaya Peoples (Notre Dame) out of the transfer portal in the offseason. Edwards, a three-time All-Patriot League selection, finished her career in Washington, D.C. with 1,232 points and 645 rebounds to finish top-10 in the program's record books while Peoples, a 2019 McDonalds All-American, made 46 starts for the Fighting Irish and averaged 7.5 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game through three seasons in South Bend. The five-member freshmen class includes Tara Daye (Newark, N.J.), Zaria Hurston (Decatur, Ga.), Maeve McErlane (Philadelphia, Pa.), Haley Walker (Burlington, Vt.) and Madisen Wardell (Detroit, Mich.).
- Postseason Pedigree: Doug Bruno and the Blue Demons returned to the NCAA Tournament in 2022 after a season's hiatus. Prior to missing the postseason tournament in 2020-21, DePaul appeared in 18 consecutive NCAA Tournaments and advanced to four Sweet 16's during that span. In total, the Blue Demons have earned 26 tournament berths and played a total of 41 games.
- Shoot it or Share it: In 2021-22, DePaul led the nation in scoring with 87.3 points per game while finishing the season ranked sixth in assists per game with 18.4.
- Getting the Call from the Hall: Bruno was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in June of 2022 at the Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville. Entering his 37th season at the helm of the Blue Demons program, Bruno ranks seventh among active Division I head coaches with 758 career wins. The Chicago native and former pupil of the great Ray Meyer was joined by fellow 2022 inductees Debbie Antonelli, Alice "Cookie" Barron, Becky Hammon, Delisha Milton-Jones, Paul Sanderford, Bob Schneider and Penny Taylor.
