DePaul and Seton Hall Finish in Scoreless Draw

Blue Demons are first team to hold Pirates scoreless in the 2022 season
CHICAGO -Â DePaul men's soccer (3-3-4) fought to a 0-0 draw in South Orange, N.J. as they took on the Seton Hall Pirates (4-1-4) on Wednesday night. Gandhi Cruz ended the night with four saves on 20 shots, helping the Blue Demons earn one point in conference play.Â
The Pirates started off the first half with a shot, but Grant Herbek was in perfect position to redirect it. Strong defensive plays continued all match from the back line as Herbek and Michael Anderson worked to keep away the Seton Hall offense.Â
Seton Hall outshot the Blue Demons 10-1 in the first half. DePaul's lone shot came from Omar Ramadan in the 14th minute. Ramadan had a perfect look at the back of the net, but Seton Hall's Hannes Ronnholmen grabbed it for a save.
Cruz started second half action with a save in the 53rd minute, leading the way for Cade Hagan to get the DePaul offense going. Hagan took a shot in the 61st minute, but it ended wide right.Â
The final 20 minutes of play saw the Blue Demons searching for a score. Felipe Corral and Jack Richards each took a shot of their own, while Jake Fuderer attempted twice. The team was also awarded two corner kicks, but were unable to connect.
Gandhi Cruz added his final save of the night in the 84th minute when he tipped the ball above the net, keeping the match tied.Â
UP NEXT: DePaul is back at home on Saturday, Oct. 8 at Wish Field. The Blue Demons will take on the Georgetown Hoyas as they continue BIG EAST play. First touch is set for 1:00 p.m. CT.
