Blue Demons and Hoyas Fight to Draw

Teams tie at one apiece
CHICAGO -Â DePaul men's soccer (3-3-5) battled to their second straight draw in conference play against Georgetown (4-4-3) in a Saturday afternoon matchup at Wish Field. The 1-1 tie is the fifth draw for the Blue Demons in the 2022 season.
The Blue Demons struck first, scoring their first goal in three matches. Michael Anderson notched a goal off of Omar Ramadan's corner kick in the second minute. This was Anderson's second goal of the 2022 season and the third of his career.Â
Felipe Corral and Jacob Huth added shots of their own during the first 45 minutes of play, but were unable to connect.
Gandhi Cruz followed with a save on Georgetown's first shot of the match. Cruz finished the first half with three saves on three shots on goal. DePaul held the 1-0 lead at halftime.Â
The Hoyas opened up the second half with a goal by Marlon Tabora in the 47th minute. Georgetown added seven total shots in the final 45 minutes, with three being on goal. Gandhi Cruz added two more saves in the back half of the game, totaling five for the match.
Both Huth and Anderson added two shots during the later half, but the Blue Demons were unable to find the back of the net for the second time.Â
DePaul's defense had another strong showing, working to redirect the majority of the 16 shots that Georgetown fired off.Â
UP NEXT: The Blue Demons will head to Queens, N.Y. to take on St. John's in a Wednesday night matchup. First touch is set for 6 p.m. CT. Â
