Verma and Gitschel Get Ready for Redbird

NORMAL, Ill. – On October 7, Shourya Verma and Jona Gitschel will be representing DePaul men's tennis at the Redbird Invitational hosted by Illinois State University.

The three-day Davis Cup style tournament will begin tomorrow, with the first round of matches starting at 12 p.m. CT.

The Blue Demons will be joined by nine other universities including, Chicago State, U of Central Florida, Illinois, Western Michigan and UIC.

Gitschel will be making his second fall tournament appearance after played doubles alongside Leon Huck, at the River Forest Invitational. Gitschel and Huck took home second place overall. Gitschel also claimed third place in his singles category after defeating an NIU player 6-2, 5-7, 10-5.

This will also be Verma's second showcase after making his DePaul debut at the Vredevelt in Kalamazoo, M.I. There he won his first doubles match as a Blue Demon with Sven Moser. The pair dominated their Cleveland State opponents 6-1.
