Aneesah Morrow Named to Wooden Award Preseason Watch List

Morrow among nation's best in John R. Wooden preseason top 50
LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- DePaul sophomore forward Aneesah Morrow is one of 50 players selected to the John R. Wooden Award Preseason Watch List presented by Wendy's.
Morrow added to her preseason accolades which include AP Preseason All-America, Naismith Trophy Preseason Watch List, unanimous preseason All-BIG EAST and mention on the Katrina McClain Award Watch List.
Through two games on the 2022-23 season, Morrow is averaging 24.5 points per game while grabbing 10.5 rebounds and shooting 52.5 percent from the field.
The Chicago native put up record numbers as a freshman in 2021-22, earning WBCA and USBWA National Freshman of the Year honors while hauling in AP Second-Team All-America recognition. A finalist for the Wooden and Naismith Player of the Year trophies a season ago, Morrow led the nation in rebounds with 13.8 per game.

Morrow registered 27 double-doubles, good for second nationally, while averaging a team-best 21.9 points per game and setting the DePaul single-season benchmark for rebounds with 457.Â
The players on the list are considered strong candidates for the 2023 John R. Wooden Award Women's Player of the Year presented by Wendy's. Players not chosen to the preseason list are still eligible for the Wooden Awardâ„¢ midseason list, late season list, and the National Ballot.
The National Ballot consists of 15 top players who have proven to their universities that they meet or exceed the qualifications of the Wooden Award. Nearly 1,000 voters will rank in order 10 of those 15 players when voting opens prior to the NCAA Tournament and will allow voters to take into consideration performance during early round games.
The Wooden Award All American Teamâ„¢ will be announced the week of the "Elite Eight" round of the NCAA Tournament. The winner of the 2023 John R. Wooden Award will be presented in Los Angeles in April.An additional four student-athletes from the BIG EAST joined Morrow on the list including Azzi Fudd (UConn), Lauren Park-Lane (Seton Hall), Emma Ronsiek (Creighton) and Maddy Siegrist (Villanova).
