DePaul Uses Second Half Surge to Power Past Pitt 74-59

Morrow records 23 and 16 double-double, Holmes and Rogers finish in double figures
FORT MYERS, Fla. – After leading by just a point at halftime, DePaul outscored Pittsburgh by 14 in the final 20 minutes to close out a 74-59 win on day two of the Elevance Health Fort Myers Tip-Off.
Aneesah Morrow led the way with 23 points and a season-high 16 rebounds while collecting five steals. Morrow recorded her fourth double-double of the 2022-23 campaign.
Junior guard Kendall Holmes scored 19 of her 21 points in the second half including five three-point field goals while shooting 88-percent from the field and connecting from downtown five times on six attempts.
Darrione Rogers rounded out the Blue Demons in double figures with 19 points including four from distance to go along with seven assists and six rebounds.
As a team, DePaul (4-2) outrebounded the Panthers 52-46 and forced 20 turnovers while grabbing 12 steals.
A Rogers step back three put DePaul in front 15-13 before a near three-minute scoring drought for the Blue Demons allowed the Panthers to hang around and close out the first 10 minutes in the lead, 19-17.
Morrow scored 10 of DePaul's 14 points in the second quarter, as the two sides traded buckets and the Blue Demons took a 31-30 edge into the locker room.
The Blue Demons came out firing in the second half, embarking on a 10-2 run to take control of the game, 42-31, with five minutes remaining in the third quarter. Seven unanswered points to conclude the third saw DePaul bring a 53-42 advantage into the final 10 minutes of action.
In the fourth quarter, the Blue Demons led by as many as 26 points and closed out in convincing fashion.
Gabby Hutcherson paced Pitt with 10 points and six rebounds.
