
DePaul Opens Season Against Loyola (Md.)

CHICAGO – In a first ever meeting between the two programs, DePaul is set to face Loyola (Md.) in its 2022-23 season opener. The Blue Demons open its season at home for the 15th-straight season.
The game will be broadcast in its entirety on the FOX Sports App and FOXSports.com. Additionally, Fox Sports' season will tip off on Monday with exclusive whip-around coverage showing live look-ins of the eight BIG EAST contests beginning at 5:30 p.m. CT on FS1. Blue Demon fans had their first opportunity to see the 2022-23 team in action last Tuesday where DePaul defeated Marian, 104-66, in an exhibition contest. All 14 available players recorded a field goal. Nick Ongenda led all players with 16 points, eight rebounds, four blocks and three assists. Jalen Terry scored 13 points on 4-of-5 shooting with five rebounds and three assists while newcomer Eral Penn had 10 rebounds.
DePaul head coach Tony Stubblefield kicks off his second season at the helm of the program. Stubblefield finished with a 15-16 record in 2021-22, despite battling injuries throughout the program. He started the 2021-22 campaign with a 9-1 record.

Monday marks the 15th-consecutive season DePaul has opened its season at home. The Blue Demons have a 14-1 record in that span and have won 54 of its 57 home openers. Since moving into Wintrust Arena ahead of the 2017-18 season, DePaul is 4-1 in its season openers played in Wintrust.
SCOUTING LOYOLA (MD.)
Loyola (Md.) is lead by fifth-year head coach, Tavaras Hardy who holds a 46-65 (.414) record with the Greyhounds. Hardy returns to the Windy City as a native of nearby Joliet, Ill. Hardy also spent seven seasons as a member of his alma matter's coaching staff at Northwestern.
Loyola finished sixth in the Patriot League last season, marking the programs best conference finish since 2013. The Greyhounds return 13 players from last season, including three fifth-year players who make up the team's top two returning scorers.
