Tipoff at Wintrust Arena slated for 7 p.m.
CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball will begin its 49th season of competition on Wednesday, Nov. 9 when the Blue Demons host American at Wintrust Arena for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
The season opener will be streamed on FloSports with Matt Rodewald (play-by-play) and Patricia Babcock-McGraw (analyst) on the call. For tickets click HERE.
Wednesday's matchup marks the first time the two teams will square off as the Blue Demons open their season at home for the 14th-consectuive year. DePaul is 36-12 all-time in inaugural games and 27-9 under Head Coach Doug Bruno.
Scouting DePaul: The Blue Demons, coming off an at-large bid to the 2022 NCAA Tournament, will look to pair an infusion of youthful energy with the experience of savvy veterans to create a recipe for success. The 14-player roster features seven newcomers and seven returners including 2022 National Freshman of the Year and Second Team All-American Aneesah Morrow.
Guards Darrione Rogers and Kierra Collier return to run point in the back court while Junior Kendall Holmes can be expected to take on a larger role after missing her freshman season with an Achilles injury. Jorie Allen, a starter in 2020-21, is back from an injury to bolster the interior presence and senior Keke Rimmer will look to provide a spark off the bench.
Transfers Jade Edwards and Anaya Peoples will make an immediate impact with a plethora of high-level experience at American and Notre Dame, respectively.
Bruno, inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in June of 2022, enters his 37th season leading the DePaul program.
A Look at the Eagles: American, fresh off a Patriot League title and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2022, has a new leader at the helm as Tiffany Coll takes over the program after nine years as Associate Head Coach.
The Eagles return eight letterwinners from last year's squad including veterans Lauren Stack and Emily Johns while welcoming five newcomers to Washington, D.C. including a pair of transfers in Marisa Lee (Hartford) and Anna LeMaster (Dayton).
Last season, American posted a 23-9 record and won 10 of their last 12 games en route to claiming their first Patriot League title since 2018. The Eagles appearied in the NCAA Tournament for the third time in program history which saw the 14-seed suffer a first round loss to third-seeded Michigan.
Up Next: Following the season lid-lifter, DePaul will make the short trip to Dekalb, Ill. to face off against Northern Illinois on Nov. 12. Tip off at the Convocation Center is slated for 1 p.m. on ESPN3.
