Nick Ongenda to Miss Additional 8-10 Weeks

CHICAGO - DePaul men's basketball senior Nick Ongenda underwent a surgical procedure on his wrist today, Dec. 1, and will be out 8-10 weeks.

Ongenda suffered a wrist injury prior to the Blue Demons season opener and was expected to miss four weeks. Upon re-evaluation of the injury by medical personnel yesterday, it was determined surgery would be necessary.

"I'm really gutted for Nick," head coach Tony Stubblefield said. "Nick worked extremely hard this offseason and had a great summer and fall. An injury like this is tough. We were expecting good news yesterday for Nick to be cleared and unfortunately, we got the worst possible outcome. Nick will continue to be an important part of our team as the season continues."

Ongenda has not played this season after averaging 8.7 points and 4.3 rebounds in 2021-22. He ranks 10^th in program history with 100 career blocked shots, after tallying 52 last season where he was among BIG EAST leaders in blocked shots.
