Blue Demons begin three-game road stint
PITTSBURGH – The DePaul men's basketball team returns to the road for its third road game of the month as they travel to take on Duquesne, Wednesday, Dec. 14. Game time from Pittsburgh is slated for 6 p.m. CT on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the radio broadcast on DePaulBlueDemons.com.
SCOUTING DEPAUL
DePaul (6-4) looks to continue its stretch of non-conference wins, having won their last three. The Blue Demons are 2-0 in road non-conference games this season, picking up wins at both Minnesota and Loyola-Chicago.
After dropping its BIG EAST opener, DePaul bounced back Saturday at home for a 91-70 win against UTEP. In the win it was once again the duo of Javan Johnson and Umoja Gibson who led the Blue Demons scoring efforts with a pair of 20 point performances. However, DePaul presented a balanced scoring effort with an additional three players scoring double-digits.
THE SERIES
DePaul leads the all-time series, 15-13, and has won six-straight in the series. Last season's matchup between the two teams was the first since DePaul joined an athletic conference in 1991-92. Duquesne holds the advantage at home, 9-4, with the last game in Pittsburgh taking place in 1990.
The Blue Demons won last seasons meeting in Chicago, 87-67.
SCOUTING DUQUESNE
Duquesne (7-3) has already surpassed their win total from 2021-22, where they finished 6-24. The Dukes opened their season 7-1 with the only loss coming against #4 Kentucky, however, they have lost back-to-back games to Marshall and New Mexico State.
Dae Dae Grant is the Dukes leading scorer this season, averaging 18.2 points per game and shooting 45.2 percent from three. Duquesne is among the nation's best in offensive rebounds (14.3), lead by Austin Rotroff who ranks top-five nationally.
