CHICAGO. - DePaul thrower Noelle Malkamaki is set to compete at the U.S. Paralympic Track & Field National Championships tonight in Miramar, Fla. Malkamaki, who has competed with the Blue Demons since 2019, will participate in the shot put tonight at 5 p.m. CT.
Malkamaki is coming off of a 14th-place finish at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships in the event, logging a throw of 12.24m. The Decatur, Ill. native set a personal best in the shot put earlier this spring, throwing for a distance of 12.46m at the Clark Wood Invitational on April 30.
The DePaul junior has been affected by a congenital birth defect called Amniotic band syndrome (ABS), causing her to be born with her right arm stopping at her wrist. Despite the condition, Malkamaki has been a mainstay for the DePaul throwing squad and has consistently improved performances in the shot put, weight throw and discus during her career as a Blue Demon.
The U.S. Paralympics Track & Field National Championships Presented by Toyota are set to take place from June 16-18 in Miramar. For more information, head to the Team USA website here.
