DePaul, No. 25 Villanova Meet at Wintrust Arena on Wednesday Night

Blue Demons host Wildcats in faceoff between two of the nation's best players
CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball returns to the court on Wednesday, Jan. 11 when No. 25 Villanova visits Wintrust Arena for a BIG EAST clash slated for 7 p.m. Fans can follow the action on FloHoops with Matt Rodewald, Patricia Babcock-McGraw and Kacy Standohar on the call. The Blue Demons will don red uniforms for the first time in the 2022-23 season in support of the program's 'Red Out' to raise awareness and funds for the American Heart Association while honoring former assistant coach Maggie Dixon.

DePaul (10-6, 3-2 BIG EAST) will play its first game in a week and seventh-consecutive home game after Sunday's game at then-No. 5 UConn was postponed due to a lack of scholarship players available in the Huskies program. The Blue Demons look to halt a two-game skid at home with setbacks to then-No. 21 Creighton and Marquette.
Sophomore forward Aneesah Morrow leads DePaul on both ends of the floor averaging 26.1 points per game while grabbing 12.1 rebounds per game. Morrow has posted 12 double-doubles on the season with her points average ranking fourth in the nation and rebounds good for sixth. Through five BIG EAST games, Morrow is second in the league in scoring (28.4), first in rebounding (13.8) and first in steals (3.4).
Darrione Rogers continues to turn in all-around impact performances, averaging 18.6 points per game, 5.6 assists to rank 15th nationally as well as 4.6 boards. Kendall Holmes is shooting 40-percent from three-point range while averaging 10.2 points per game with senior guard Anaya Peoples pouring in 9.6 points in addition to 6.3 rebounds a contest good for second on the team. Jorie Allen rounds out the starting five with 7.1 points per game at an efficient clip of 54.2 percent.
With three Blue Demons averaging six or more boards, DePaul leads the BIG EAST in rebounds per game at 42.6 per game including nearly 16 a game on the offensive end of the floor which ranks 11th in Division I. The Blue Demons remain active in the passing lanes, pacing the lead in steals at 9.4 takeaways a game.
About Villanova
Led by the nation's leading scorer, Maddy Siegrist, the Wildcats are 14-3 and 5-1 in BIG EAST action and have won five in a row. Siegrist is averaging 28.5 points per game to pace Villanova while also grabbing a team-best 9.7 rebounds. Sophomore guard Lucy Olsen orchestrates the offense with 12.4 points per game and 3.9 assists per contest. As a team, the Wildcats rank second in the nation in turnovers per game at just 10.5 and are third among Division I teams in assist/turnover ratio at 1.51. Denise Dillon is in her third season on the Main Line and is 55-19 while leading the program.

The Blue Demons hold a 20-8 edge in the all-time series, including a 13-1 mark in games played in Chicago. The two teams split both regular-season meetings a season ago with each program prevailing on their home court. Wednesday will mark the third time the two teams meet at Wintrust Arena with DePaul winning the two prior matchups.
