Blue Demons Host #8 Xavier

CHICAGO – The DePaul men's basketball team begins a challenging five-game stretch that features four ranked opponents as they host No. 8 Xavier, Wednesday, Jan. 18 inside Wintrust Arena. The game is slated for a 7:30 p.m. tip on FS1 with Jeff Levering and Nick Bahe on the call.
SCOUTING DEPAUL
DePaul (8-10, 2-5 BIG EAST) is coming off a week where they split a pair of games against Villanova and Seton Hall. The Blue Demons snapped a 22-game losing streak against the Wildcats in a 75-65 win before narrowly falling, 67-71, to Seton Hall on Saturday.
Da'Sean Nelson has emerged as a solid player for the Blue Demons, averaging 17.5 points and six rebounds per game across his last four performances. Nelson had a career-high 24 points in DePaul's win against Villanova and is one of four Blue Demons averaging double-digit scoring this season.
THE SERIES
Xavier leads the all-time series 17-12, with a narrow 7-6 advantage in games played in Chicago. The Blue Demons split a pair of meetings against Xavier last season, with each team winning on the road. DePaul narrowly fell at home, 68-67, to Xavier before defeating the #22 Musketeers 69-65. DePaul's last home win against Xavier came in 2015, prior to the team's move to Wintrust Arena.

Xavier enters Wednesday's game fresh off a 80-76 win against No. 25 Marquette where the team had six players in double-digit scoring. The team is riding an 11-game win streak and holds a 7-0 record in BIG EAST play.
Sean Miller returned to Cincinnati in the offseason, previously coaching at Xavier from 2004-09. The Musketeers lead the country in assists per game, averaging 21.1 per contest, in addition to being one of the best shooting teams in the country. Xavier ranks third in field goal percentage (50.6) and fifth in three-point percentage (40.2).
