DePaul Drops Friday Contest to Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. – DePaul men's tennis drops their matchup against Wisconsin 1-6 on Friday evening. Sophomore Marino Jakic claimed the Blue Demon's sole point over the Badgers after conquering his singles opponent in a hard-fought three set tiebreaker.

The Blue Demons began their competition with doubles matches at 5:30 p.m. CT. Leon Huck and Jona Gitschel teamed up to play Wisconsin's No. 2 doubles team but lost to their opponents 6-2. DePaul's No. 3 doubles pair Shourya Verma and Pablo Torres Almeida also dropped their doubles match 6-3, granting the Badgers the first point of the night.

Aleksa Krivokapic and Jakic ended their doubles match early, splitting up to play singles with the rest of the team. Krivokapic ended his match first after he was held off by Wisconsin's Mihailo Popovic 6-0, 6-0. Sven Moser and Almeida also ended their battles in two sets falling 6-1, 6-1, and 6-2, 6-2, respectively. Huck lost to Sebastian Vile 6-3, 6-2.

Jakic clinched a win at the No. 1 singles spot over Wisconsin's Jared Pratt, 2-6, 6-3, (10-6). No. 3 singles, Matteo Iaquinto, also battled his opponent to three sets but ultimately lost, 6-4, 2-6 (10-3) against Gabriel Huber.
