DePaul set for its second-straight road trip
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The DePaul men's basketball team is set for its second-straight road game as they look toward a Tuesday evening matchup against Georgetown. The Blue Demons will tip off against the Hoyas at 6 p.m. CT with Scott Graham and Sarah Kustok on the call. Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will have the radio call on 160 The Score.
SCOUTING DEPAUL
Tuesday is DePaul's only game in a five-game stretch not against a ranked opponent. The Blue Demons are coming off a physical BIG EAST test with back-to-back games against #8 Xavier and #22 Providence. DePaul went 1-1 last week after handing Xavier their first BIG EAST loss of the season and dropping a hard-fought game to #22/20 Providence on Saturday.
Da'Sean Nelson is averaging 15.5 points per game on 63.9 percent shooting since the calendar year turned to 2023. The junior ranks ninth among all BIG EAST players in that time frame and leads all players in the league off the bench.
THE SERIES
Georgetown leads the all-time series 33-14, however, DePaul has won the last three-straight and seven of the last 12. The Blue Demons won the earlier meeting between the teams in Chicago, 83-76. Umoja Gibson and Javan Johnson combined for 52 points in that game as DePaul shot 50 percent as a deep from three.
SCOUTING GEORGETOWN
Georgetown enters Tuesday with a 5-15 (0-9 BIG EAST) record. The Hoyas narrowly took down Villanova on the road in a 77-73 loss on Jan. 16. Georgetown is led by Primo Spears who is fresh off a 37 point, 11 assist performance against Xavier. Spears is averaging 16.4 points and 5.5 assists per game this season. DePaul held Spears to just eight points in the earlier meeting this season.
UP NEXT
Following Tuesday night's matchup, the Blue Demons turn their attention to No. 16 Marquette at home on Saturday, Jan. 28. The game is DePaul's annual Blue Demon Day as fans are encouraged to arrive early, wear blue and be loud. The game is slated for a 1 p.m. tip on FS1.
Limited ticket availability remains for the matchup. Tickets can be purchased at DePaulBlueDemons.com/Tickets.
