Two squads face off for second time this season at 6 p.m. on FloHoops
OMAHA, Neb. – DePaul women's basketball returns to the court for the first time in over a week when the Blue Demons meet Creighton at D.J. Sokol Arena on Wednesday night. Tipoff on the first night of February is slated for 6 p.m. CT on the BIG EAST Digital Network carried on FloHoops. Jon Schriner, Rob Simms and Ana Bellinghausen will handle the television duties.
About DePaul
Heading into the back half of BIG EAST play, DePaul (11-10, 4-6) looks to return to its winning ways after dropping three-consecutive league games. The Blue Demons return to competition on Wednesday after last Saturday's contest at Seton Hall was postponed as DePaul could not meet the conference-minimum of seven scholarship players available due to injury.
All-American sophomore forward Aneesah Morrow leads the way for DePaul with 25.0 points (4th nationally) per game and 11.9 rebounds (6th) per contest. Morrow, recently named to the Wooden Award Late Season Top 20, has 17 double doubles this season and has reached 20+ points in all but four games this season.
Junior Darrione Rogers ranks fourth in the BIG EAST in scoring with 17.9 points per game while also dishing out 5.3 assists a contest. Fellow guard Kendall Holmes is shooting 41-percent from long distance while adding nearly 10 points a game.
Collectively, the Blue Demons have had a strong campaign on the boards, ranking second in the BIG EAST with 41.3 rebounds per game while landing 12th in Division I in offensive rebounds with 15.5 per outing. DePaul is 9-2 this season when out-rebounding opponents.
About Creighton
Creighton (14-6, 8-4 BIG EAST) has won five of their last six matchups and sits at third in the league standings after a 65-57 victory at Georgetown on Saturday.
The Bluejays are led by a trio of scorers in double figures including 16.2 points per game from Lauren Jensen and 15.8 per contest from Morgan Maly. As a team, Creighton handles the ball with extreme care, averaging just 11.8 turnovers per game to rank fourth nationally while boasting an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.44 – good for seventh in Division I.
Jim Flanery is in his 21st season at the helm in Omaha and holds a record of 393-259 leading his alma mater.
