Men’s Soccer Welcomes No. 25 UIC to Wish Field for Non-Conference Finale

Blue Demons and Flames kick off at 2 p.m.
CHICAGO – DePaul men's soccer welcomes crosstown rival No. 25 UIC to Wish Field on Wednesday, Oct. 4 for its non-conference finale. The matchup between the Flames and Blue Demons is set to get underway at 2 p.m. with coverage on Marquee Sports Network as well as FloSports.

Setting the Scene
The Blue Demons return home looking to snap an eight-game winless skid. DePaul (1-6-2, 0-3 BIG EAST), facing its second ranked opponent of the season, dropped a 4-0 decision at Providence on Friday afternoon. Stung by numerous injuries, coach Plotkin and his staff have relied on plenty of youthful talent including a trio of freshman forwards Noeh Hernandez, Liam Mullins and Keagan Pace alongside center mid Jordan Clagette. Redshirt freshman Christian Baumgartner has played in his first season as a Blue Demon, leading the squad with three points. Hernandez owns a team-high 15 shots on the season including five on goal. Gandhi Cruz has started all nine matches in goal for the Blue Demons, making 47 stops.
About the Flames
UIC enters the match ranked 25th in the latest US Soccer Coaches Poll with a 7-1-2 record to boot. The Flames are coming off their first loss of the season, a 1-0 defeat against Western Michigan, on Saturday. JuCo transfer Bart Muns paces the Flames front line with a team-lead 15 points on five goals and three assists. Jesus De Vincente has recorded eight assists on the 2023 campaign. Graduate goalkeeper Oren Asher has four clean sheets to his credit this season, owning a 1.00 goals against average. Sean Phillips is in his 14th season leading UIC's program.
Series Stuff
Wednesday marks the 34th all-time meeting between the two programs. UIC leads the head-to-head 18-12-3. The Blue Demons prevailed 3-2 on Sept. 20 a season ago at Flames Field.
