
Blue Demons Host Seton Hall and St. John’s for Final Regular Season Matchups

DePaul rounds out regular season with home slate
CHICAGO - DePaul volleyball rounds out the regular season at McGrath-Phillips Arena this weekend, againstSeton Hall and St. John's. The Blue Demons take on the Pirates Friday, Nov. 17 with first serve set for 7 p.m. and conclude the regular season against St. John's Saturday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m.
Sierra Ellison, Sara Griffith, Phoenix Lee, Hanna Karl, Rachel Krasowski, Julia Nagy, Bailey Nelson and Jill Pressly will all be recognized prior to Saturday's match as part of the Senior Day ceremony.
With a win on Friday over Seton Hall, DePaul could clinch a postseason berth and make their way back to the BIG EAST Tournament for the second time in program history and first since 2021.
"What a unique opportunity to get Seton Hall again in a win-to-get-in match," said head coach Marie Zidek. "This team continues to add to their game following our road wins to put us in this position, and they will give it everything they have in honor of our seniors and how hard this team has worked to create meaningful November matches. The growth has been remarkable and we aren't done yet."
SCOUTING THE PIRATES
- Seton Hall enters the weekend with a record of 14-13 (8-8 BIG EAST). The Pirates are looking to break into the top-six teams to earn a berth to the BIG EAST Tournament.
- The Pirates rank third in the conference in blocks, averaging 2.12 per set.
- Asli Subasili leads the team in service aces (29) and is third in the league in blocks (1.06 per set).
- Madeline Matherny paces the Pirates offense, averaging 2.88 kills per set.
- Anna Holland dishes out 3.04 digs per set, the most on the team.
- Shannon Thompson is in her second season with the Pirates.
SCOUTING THE RED STORM
- St. John's owns an overall record of 20-8 (12-4 BIG EAST). The Johnnies have already clinched a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament and are currently sitting as the third seed.
- The Red Storm rank second in assists in the conference (12.18 per set), third in kills (12.99 per set), fourth in service aces (1.58 per set) and fifth in hitting percentage (.215).
- Erin Jones is fifth in the BIG EAST in kills, averaging 3.54 per set.
- Wicktoria Kowalczyk is third in the league in aces (0.40 per set) and sixth in assists (8.87 per set).
- Rashanny Solano Smith averages 3.93 digs per set, good for seventh in the conference.
- Joanne Persico is in her 30th season leading the Red Storm.
SERIES STUFF
The Pirates lead the all-time series, 21-6.
St. John's has the advantage in all-time matchups, leading 21-9.
BLUE DEMON BITS
- DePaul sits with a record of 15-12 (8-8 BIG EAST).
- DePaul ranks first in the league in digs (16.45 per set), second in blocks (2.23 per set), third in assists (12.18 per set) and fourth in kills (12.99 per set).
- Senior Jill Pressly averages 4.47 kills per set, which leads the conference and is 12th in the country. Pressly also leads the league in points, averaging 4.96 per set.
- Senior libero Rachel Krasowski continues to lead the BIG EAST in digs with 5.08 per set, good for 19th nationally.
- Two Blue Demons sit atop the rankings for blocks per set in the conference. Katleynn Oxley is in second with 1.09 blocks per set while Meghan Scholz is in fifth with 1.00 blocks per set.
- Maggie Jones and Ashley Cudiamat continue to lead the team in assists, averaging 6.78 and 6.34 per set, respectively. Both Jones and Cudiamat are within the top-10 of the BIG EAST.

DePaul will look to secure a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament, hosted by Marquette on Nov. 22-25. First round matchups are set to begin on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at the Al McGuire Center in Milwaukee, Wis.
