How it Happened
Both teams got off to a slow start from the field, with the score knotted at 10 through the first six minutes of the first quarter. Out of the media timeout, the Blue Demons took control, using a 17-2 run to close the quarter in front 22-10. Peoples led the way with 10 first-quarter points.
Sidor's second three of the night halted a Bison run of six unanswered in what turned into a 15-0 Blue Demon spurt to close the half. DePaul led 43-18 heading into the locker room.
DePaul had 12 assists on 15 made field goals through the first 20 minutes with Sidor totaling 12 points and Peoples adding 10 points and seven rebounds.
Howard scored seven points in a one-minute span midway through the third quarter to trim the Blue Demons lead to 56-35 and force a DePaul timeout. The Blue Demons made five of their last eight attempts in the period and took a 66-40 lead into the final 10 minutes.
The Blue Demons earned their largest lead of the game with 3:37 remaining in the fourth quarter on a Charlece Ohiaeri layup through the lane to put DePaul up 80-47. Howard made their last four field goal attempts, but it was too little too late as the Blue Demons closed out the victory.
