Six Blue Demons Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

Costow, Devona, Menser, Mink, Smyth and Soderstrom all earn mentions
CHICAGO – DePaul women's soccer had six players named to the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District Team, Tuesday afternoon. Ebba Costow, Jen Devona, Grace Menser, Ellie Mink, Beth Smyth and Susie Soderstrom earned mentions for their academic and athletic success this season. Costow, Smyth and Soderstrom all earned their second career Academic All-District honor.Â
ÂCostow, a fifth-year midfielder, is set to graduate with a BSB in Management in the spring of 2024. This is the second-consecutive year she has earned Academic All-District honors. On the field, Costow played in all 17 games this season, including 15 starts, and logged a total of 884 minutes on the pitch. Costow collected two assists this season, aiding in both of DePaul's 2-1 wins against Samford and Eastern Kentucky.Â
ÂDevona, a junior midfielder, is currently majoring in health sciences at DePaul. This season, the Blue Demon played in all but one game, logging 398 minutes on the pitch.Â
ÂMenser, a junior defender, is a marketing major at DePaul. The Blue Demon played and started in every match this season, logging a total of 937 minutes on the pitch. Menser tallied two shots on goal, one in DePaul's win against Green Bay and the other in the team's draw with Creighton.Â
ÂMink, a 2023 All-BIG EAST Third Team member, is set to graduate this fall with a B.S. in Health Sciences while also double majoring in psychology. This season, Mink paced the Blue Demons with four goals, one assist and nine points. She was responsible for finding the equalizers in both of DePaul's draws against Providence and Green Bay. Mink also connected on the game winning goal in a 2-1 victory against Samford
ÂSmyth, a senior midfielder, is set to graduate with a B.S.B in Economics this spring. Smyth earns her second-consecutive Academic All-District honor after playing and starting in all 17 games this season for DePaul. She scored three goals this season, all of which contributed to a DePaul win.Â
ÂSoderstrom, a junior forward who is currently studying finance, also earned her second-straight Academic All-District honor. On the pitch this past season, Soderstrom tallied one assist and scored the game-winning goal in DePaul's 1-0 win against Villanova. Soderstrom played in every game and started 15, logging a total of 998 minutes on the pitch.Â
ÂThe 2023 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be nominated athletes must meet a list of criteria, which includes a 3.50 cumulative GPA and be a starter or important reserve on their team.
ÂAcademic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
