Blue Demons Host Alabama State on Sunday

CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball hosts its penultimate non-conference contest on Sunday, Dec. 17 when Alabama State descends upon Wintrust Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT with Matt Rodewald and Kenny McReynolds carrying the call on FloHoops.

Noting the Blue Demons
- DePaul returned to the win column in resounding fashion on Wednesday with a 90-65 rout of local foe, Northwestern.
- Against the Wildcats, three Blue Demons scored in double figures led by Anaya Peoples' 21 points. It was Peoples seventh 20-point performance and 11th double-digit outing in 11 games this season.
- The graduate guard is 21st in the country with 20.7 points per game while her 228 total points is 10th. Her 8.0 rebounds is third in the BIG EAST.
- As a team, DePaul won the rebounding battle for the seventh time this season, 38-32 and also dished out 27 assists on 36 made field goals.
- The Blue Demons are 20th in Division I in assists per game with 18.7 helpers per game while their 40.55 rebounds a contest leads the league.
- Michelle Sidor netted 15 points on five-for-six behind the arc against Northwestern, her sixth double-digit outing of the season and second-consecutive. Sidor's 49-percent three-point field goal percentage is good for top-20 on the national scene.
- Katlyn Gilbert's 29 steals on the season is 18th nationally and first in the BIG EAST.
- Sunday is DePaul's first of two contests against SWAC opponents this season. The Blue Demons will host Alcorn State for its final non-conference contest on Thursday, Dec. 28 at 6 p.m.
- The Hornets are in the midst of a grueling stretch, playing 12 of their first 13 games of the season on the road.
- Alabama State is currently 0-8 on the season after most recently dropping a 94-37 decision to Auburn on Wednesday. The Hornets are set to travel to No. 22 Florida State on Wednesday.
- Senior guard Shyma Ward is averaging 10.3 points per game to pace the Hornets offense.
- Freda Freeman-Jackson is in her 26th season leading the Hornets.
- The Blue Demons are 2-0 all-time against the Hornets. Sunday's matchup is the first since 2019.
- Four seasons ago, DePaul came away victorious 105-76 at Wintrust Arena.
