A Rogers three on the right wing widened the lead to 17-5 before the Friars were held without a point for the final three minutes of the first quarter, allowing DePaul to jump in front 22-10 after one.
Providence (13-15, 4-13) used a 13-2 run to open the second period and trim the lead to just a point before the Blue Demons responded with six unanswered behind back-to-back lay ins from Peoples. Headed into the locker room, DePaul held a 35-30 edge with Morrow and Peoples leading the way nine points apiece while Morrow had 10 first-half rebounds.
A 12-2 DePaul run out of the gates in the third including four consecutive Morrow baskets pushed the Blue Demons lead back to 15, 49-34. Peoples and Rogers connected from downtown on back-to-back possessions to balloon the advantage to 20 with DePaul taking a 66-48 edge into the fourth quarter.
