Blue Demons Complete Final Day of Meyo Invitational

DePaul Leaves South Bend with Record Performances

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – DePaul Track and Field completed its final day of competition at the Meyo Invitational, hosted by the University of Notre Dame, Saturday afternoon. The Blue Demons brought home more gold and bronze victories in addition to several new school records.

Tommy Elwood kicked off the day with his first place finish in the men's 3000m after achieving a final time of 8:25.84. Darius Brown claimed his first place prize in the men's 60m hurdles with a 7.88 time.

Shane Knanishu was the first Blue Demon of the day to break his own school record. The graduate student finished the men's mile with a 4:07.01 time, besting his previous record of 4:07.52.

Olivia Borowiak followed suit, earning bronze in the women's 3000m and knocking 16 seconds off her previous school record with a final time of 9:20.08.

"It was a monstrous personal record," said coach Geoff Wayton. "Again, breaking her own school record."

Other notable performances included Alex Bernstein and Ben Litwin who both earned new personal bests in the men's weight throw after eclipsing 19m in back-to-back throws.

Jarel Terry finished strong in the men's 400m dash, claiming fourth place with a sub 48 second performance and final time of 47.99. Terry joined forces with Jadon Johnson, Brown, and Charles Lewis to compete in the men's 4x400m relay. The team placed fifth with a 3:12.65 time.

Next week the Blue Demons travel to Allendale, Mich. for the GVSU Big Meet on Friday, Feb. 10.
