
Four in Double Figures Lifts DePaul Over Butler 87-62

Rogers and Morrow net 23 apiece as the Blue Demons shoot 57-percent from the field
CHICAGO – Four Blue Demons finished with double figure scoring for the second-straight game as DePaul topped visiting Butler 87-62 at Wintrust Arena on Wednesday night. Led by 23 points apiece from Darrione Rogers and Aneesah Morrow, DePaul shot a blistering 57-percent from the field, second-best in a single-game this season, to improve to 13-11 and 6-7 in BIG EAST play.
Rogers boasted an 87-percent field goal percentage on seven-of-eight shooting while adding five rebounds and four assists in an all-around performance. Morrow turned in her 18th double-double and 45th of her career with 14 rebounds to go along with six assists and three steals.
Senior Keke Rimmer matched her career-high she set last time out against Xavier with 15 points on five-of-seven shooting in addition to corralling eight rebounds. Kendall Holmes reached 11 points behind a three-for-four performance from long range.
Anaya Peoples returned to the lineup after missing a pair of games due to injury and totaled nine points, a career-high seven assists and five rebounds.
As a team, DePaul outrebounded the Bulldogs 42-24 while dominating inside with a 46-20 advantage in paint points.
The first five minutes of action were characterized by a frenetic pace with the Blue Demons running out to an 11-5 behind a pair of Rogers triples. The Bulldogs hit four-consecutive triples to knot the score at 17. DePaul held a narrow 21-17 edge after 10 minutes led by Rogers' 10 points.
A 10-0 run in the latter stages of the second period widened DePaul's lead to 41-27 to force a Butler timeout. The Blue Demons went on to outscore the Bulldogs 23-13 in the period to take a 44-30 lead into the locker room. Rogers (14), Morrow (11) and Rimmer (10) all totaled double figure points at the half.
After the two teams traded buckets through the initial possessions of the third, DePaul utilized a 10-3 run to close the quarter and take a sizable 62-40 lead into the final 10 minutes of action.
Butler (7-17, 2-13) poured in five three-point field goals in the fourth quarter to cut a 26-point advantage to 19 but it was too little too late as the Blue Demons ran away with the win to claim the season sweep over the Bulldogs.
Rachel McLimore led the Bulldogs with 18 points including four three-point field goals.
