The Blue Demons Cap Off their Regular Dual Season with a Win
CHICAGO – DePaul men's tennis (11-14) caps off their last regular season dual match with a 3-4 win over UIC on Thursday evening. The Blue Demons lost the doubles point but found multiple victories on the singles side to come back and win it all.Â
Â"We won a hard fought match tonight against one of the best UIC teams we have faced," said head coach Matt Brothers. "Proud of the team's tenacity and resilience but we know there is still work to be done."
ÂThe Flames surged into the doubles competition, taking all three matches to capture the first point of the day. UIC continued their lead with another win on the No. 2 singles court but Sven Moser responded with a 7-5, 6-1 victory, to earn a point for DePaul.Â
ÂPablo Torres Almeida followed suit with a 7-6, 7-5(7-4), win on the No. 4 court to tie the competition. Matteo Iaquinto conquered his opponent 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, to further DePaul's lead. Up 3-2, Aleksa Krivokapic stepped up at the No. 1 singles spot and secured the victory for the Blue Demons with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 to win it all.Â
