No. 5 DePaul Faces Off Against No. 4 Butler in BIG EAST Championship Quarterfinals

The Blue Demons Ready for BIG EAST Quarterfinals in Cayce, S.C.
CAYCE – DePaul men's tennis (11-14, 2-4 BIG EAST) gears up for their BIG EAST quarterfinal match against No. 4 seed Butler on Friday, Apr. 21 at 3:30 p.m. CT. Fans can keep up with live scoring by clicking here.Â
ÂThe reigning back-to-back BIG EAST Champions look for their third straight title as they enter the championship portion of their season. DePaul was selected as the No. 5 seed in the tournament, as announced by the conference on Monday.Â
ÂButler (13-9, 4-1 BIG EAST) earned a close 4-3 victory over the Blue Demons earlier this season. Freshmen standouts Aleksa Krivokapic and Pablo Torres Almeida claimed wins against Butler on the singles courts. Sophomore Sven Moser also defeated his opponent on the No. 6 singles spot to contribute to DePaul's three points.Â
ÂLast dual season, the Blue Demons claimed their second consecutive BIG EAST Championship title after they defeated No. 1 seed St. John's 4-2 in the finals for the second year in a row. Freshman Marino Jakic aided in the major victory after clinching the fourth and final point for DePaul.Â
ÂIn 2021, The Blue Demons earned their first ever BIG EAST Championship in a close 4-3 against the Red Storm. Prior to the triumph, DePaul had secured three appearances in the finals one in 2009, 2014 and 2018.Â
