CHICAGO – Incoming freshman Dramane Camara has officially signed with DePaul and is set to join the Blue Demons ahead of the 2023-24 season. Also known as Ladji, Camara comes to Chicago from the NBA Africa Academy in Senegal where he broke out in the summer of 2022.
"Ladji is a tremendous talent who we can't wait to bring on board," said head coach Tony Stubblefield. "He has a great combination of length, speed and athleticism. He's an extremely versatile player who can do it all on the court and is going to just continue improving."
Originally from Paris, France, Ladji took his talents to Senegal where he has played with the NBA Africa Academy. The NBA Africa Academy serves as an elite training center for the top male and female prospects throughout Africa and is the first of its kind on the continent.
Camara possess a tremendous seven-foot wingspan with a wide shooting range and potential. He was rated a four-star prospect in the latest rankings by 247Sports.com and ranks as a top-25 player at his position in the 2023 class by both 247Sports and On3. Most recently he was one of 12 NBA Academy Africa prospects selected to the Basketball Africa League Elevate program.
Camara is the third player to be added to the Blue Demons roster for 2023-24, after both Jaden Henley and Jeremiah Oden officially signed with DePaul earlier this week.
