DePaul Falls to Creighton in BIG EAST Semifinals

Blue Demons drops match to Bluejays, 4-3
CAYCE, S.C. - The No. 2 DePaul women's tennis team fell to No. 3 Creighton on Saturday morning, 4-3.
DePaul jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when they grabbed the doubles point. Creighton struck first on the doubles courts, taking down Greta Carbone and Hannah Smith on the No. 2 court, 6-4.
Lenka Antonijevic and Eleanor Nobbs responded with a 6-3 win over Kendall and Shukla on the No. 1 court. Yuliya Kizelbasheva and Maddie Yergler clinched the doubles point when the duo took the win on the No. 3 court, 6-4.
In singles play, Lenka Antonijevic and Valentina Martin earned the second and third points just moments apart. Antonijevic defeated Creighton's Martinez in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. Martin followed up with a win on the No. 6 court over Leanne Kendall, 6-2, 6-2.
The Bluejays would not allow the Blue Demons to win their fourth point, snagging all remaining points on the final four courts. Creighton earned wins on No. 1, 2, 3 and 5 to get to the decisive four points. Kizelbasheva, Nobbs, Smith and Carbone all fell in their final matchups.
The Blue Demons finish the 2023 dual season with a final record of 12-10 (7-2 BIG EAST, including championship matches).
