
Noelle Malkamaki Breaks World Shot Put Record, Joins Team USA for World Championship

DePaul senior earns nod to first World Championship
CHULA VISTA, CALIF. - DePaul track and field senior Noelle Malkamaki had a successful weekend at the 2023 Paralympics Track & Field National Championships, breaking the women's F46 world shot put record.Â
Malkamaki took a first place finish in the event on Saturday, May 20 with a final mark of 12.63m. Malkamaki followed that up on Sunday with a nod to represent Team USA at the 2023 World Para Athletics Championships, set to take place in Paris, France July 8-17.
This past weekend was Malkamaki's second career nationals, after only recently beginning to compete in Para Athletics. July will mark her World Championship debut.Â
Malkamaki most recently finished her third outdoor track and field season, finishing fourth in shot put, fifth in hammer throw and seventh in discus at the 2023 BIG EAST Outdoor Track and FIeld Championships and helping the women to a third place finish.Â
