Team GPA of 3.908 Earns 16th-Consecutive All-Academic Team Award
TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its academic awards for the 2022-23 season, with DePaul women's tennis bringing home multiple honors.
All eight Blue Demons including Lenka Antonijevic, Greta Carbone, Yuliya Kizelbasheva, Valentina Martin, Eleanor Nobbs, Mayya Perova, Hannah Smith and Maddie Yergler were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for the academic year, while the program was named an All-Academic Team for the 16th-consecutive season.
In four seasons under head coach Marisa Arce, 33 of 34 eligible student-athletes have earned the Scholar-Athlete distinction which is good for 97 percent. The 2022-23 academic year marks the third-consecutive year that every Blue Demon student-athlete has received recognition.
To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman through senior year).
For the Team Academic Award, the Blue Demons blew away the ITA minimum of a 3.20 GPA with a 3.908 cumulative team average which is tops among DePaul's athletics programs.
In 2023, 1,513 Division I women's student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete while 234 programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
