Gandhi Cruz makes seven saves in the decision
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – DePaul men's soccer battled to a scoreless draw with Bowling Green on Friday night at Cochrane Field.
Goalkeeper Gandhi Cruz made seven saves on the evening, matching his season high, while earning the 10th shutout of his career.
Bowling Green (2-1-2) was the aggressor from the jump, registering eight shots in the first 16 minutes of action.
DePaul's first chance came in the 22nd minute on a shot from Felipe Corral that sailed out left. The Blue Demons kept the pressure on as Callum Watts recorded a shot on frame shortly after.
The visitors earned the first corner of the match in the 32nd minute, but the Falcons swiftly cleared the ball out of the attacking third.
A pair of Bowling Green shots sailed high as time winded down in the first half. The two sides went into intermission knotted at the half.
The second half begun with three saves from Cruz as the Falcons pressed early. Corral led the counterattack effort with consecutive shots in the 58th minute.
DePaul (1-2-2) continued searching for a goal to breakthrough the scoreless affair with Santiago Rodriguez pressuring the Falcons back line with a shot on frame in the latter stages. The Blue Demons closed out the final moments of the match earning a corner kick and firing a shot into the box but with no success as time expired.
